FIREBRINGER | a musical
in partnership with Options High School drama department
Directed by Zacharee Simms
MARCH 20 - 29, 2026
At the dawn of civilization, one person has a bright idea.
Options High School, in collaboration with Bellingham TheatreWorks presents Firebringer, a rock musical!
Every day, Jemilla and their tribe of stone-age pals work hard collecting nuts and berries. Every night, they take cover in their cave, hiding from the most fearsome predator alive.
When the tribe troublemaker goes out during a storm, they stumble upon the most important discovery in human history. It will take them on a journey from omega to alpha, as they become - the Firebringer.
Using a cast of both students and adults, this high-energy comedy follows a tribe of early Homo sapiens as they navigate the challenges of survival and the invention of fire, while exploring themes of innovation, community, and the consequences of progress.
“Irrepressibly funny. A daffy delight.”
—THE NEW YORK TIMES
“A delightfully absurd musical. High-spirited and gleefully dippy.”
—VARIETY
“Packed with clever lyrics and big laughs.”
—TIME OUT NY
“Ridiculously fun, endearingly dumb in all the right ways.”
—BROADWAYWORLD
