THE GUN SHOW
by EM Lewis
Directed by Eric Brake
MAY 17 - 26, 2018
A complicated relationship with guns and growing up in rural Oregon.
From our 2016 season, we are remounting our popular production of EM (Ellen) Lewis' The Gun Show.
Join us for a unique perspective and true stories about America’s most dangerous pastime. Poignant yet comedic, this surprisingly intimate and brutally honest show leans neither right nor left and jumps into the middle of the debate and asks: “Can we have a conversation about this?”
Against the country’s current backdrop, EM Lewis’ deeply personal stories give a human voice to both sides of a complicated issue.
Ms. Lewis’ complicated relationship with guns is brought to life by Bellingham’s veteran performer Ian Bivins and director Eric James Brake.
Jeff Award (Chicago) Nomination, Best Solo Show, 2014.
“The power and rawness and unexpected amount of humor in Lewis' piece make it a welcome addition to the growing body of creative work around our national gun-related body count."
—CHICAGO TRIBUNE
“The drama's life-changing moments evoke a here-and-now immediacy, not easily forgotten."
—LA WEEKLY
“…compelling, provocative, and unexpected ...THE GUN SHOW is neither pro- nor anti-gun. Instead, Lewis uses her own alternately tragic, funny and life-changing experiences with guns to step outside the polarized ends of the gun control debate."
—CHICAGO SUN TIMES
